TC Promise Program
The TC Promise is helping more students than ever earn college credit without the cost of tuition while they’re still in high school.

The TC Promise Starts in High School
The TC Promise is helping more students than ever earn college credit while they’re still in high school at no tuition cost.
For eligible students, the combination of the TC Promise and the Financial Aid for Swift Transfer (FAST) Program makes it possible to take qualifying Dual Credit courses without paying tuition. Together, these programs remove financial barriers so students can begin working toward a college degree before they graduate from high school.
Even better, students who complete 15 or more Texarkana College Dual Credit hours before graduating high school automatically qualify for additional TC Promise benefits after graduation, including an additional $1,000 in scholarships.
How It Works
The TC Promise is designed to help students save on college costs both now and after high school graduation.
While You’re in High School
Eligible students attending participating partner high schools can take qualifying Dual Credit courses at no tuition cost. This opportunity is made possible through the combined support of the TC Promise and the Financial Aid for Swift Transfer (FAST) Program, when applicable.
After You Graduate
Students who complete 15 or more Texarkana College Dual Credit hours before graduating high school become automatic qualifiers for the TC Promise. Automatic qualifiers receive:
- Tuition through the TC Promise (while eligibility requirements are maintained)
- An additional $1,000 in scholarships ($500 per semester)
- A seamless transition from high school to Texarkana College
What is FAST?
The Financial Aid for Swift Transfer (FAST) Program is a State of Texas financial aid program that helps eligible students cover the cost of Dual Credit coursework while they are in high school.
Texarkana College is proud to participate in the FAST Program. Combined with support from the TC Promise, FAST helps make qualifying Dual Credit courses available at no tuition cost for eligible students.
Under current state guidelines:
- FAST eligibility is determined by the State of Texas.
- Homeschool and private school students are not eligible for FAST under current state guidelines.
- Some Early Admission coursework may qualify for FAST.
- Early Admission coursework is not eligible for funding through the Dual Credit portion of the TC Promise and does not count toward the 15 Texarkana College Dual Credit hours required for automatic qualification after graduation.
Why 15 Hours Matters
One of the greatest advantages of Dual Credit is becoming an automatic qualifier for the TC Promise.
By earning 15 or more Texarkana College Dual Credit hours before graduating high school, students receive:
- Automatic qualification for the TC Promise after graduation
- An additional $1,000 in scholarships
- A smoother transition into a degree or workforce program at Texarkana College
Those 15 hours don’t just help you graduate sooner. They unlock additional opportunities that continue long after high school.
